The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has released the September report regarding the quality of medicines. This includes cough syrup, multivitamins and anti-allergy medicines including calcium, vitamin D3, which have failed the quality test. The thing to note is that these also include those medicines which doctors usually give to patients. At the same time, Paracetamol has not been able to pass the quality test for the second consecutive month.
Samples of these medicines failed
CDSCO’s list includes medicines like Omarin D Capsule, Nimesulide + Paracetamol, Calcium 500, Vitamin D3, Pantoprazole, Paracetamol Pediatric Oral Suspension, Aceclofenac, Cetirizine Syrup etc. People generally use these medicines for gastric, fever, cough and pain. There are a total of 49 medicines in this list which have failed the quality check. The Central Drug Standards Maintenance Organization collects samples of medicines from the market every month and tests them on different parameters.
What does it mean if a medicine fails?
DCGI Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi said that if a medicine fails in the testing parameters then it is not said to be of standard quality. From this it is understood that the medicine of that batch of the company which has manufactured this medicine is not as per the standard. Samples of medicines which had failed the quality test were available in the market. Their samples were taken from the market and tested. He told that notices are issued to the companies of medicines which are not of standard quality.
Fake medicines in the name of big companies also found
CDSCO’s report also includes four such medicines, which were manufactured by another company in the name of a big company and sent to the market. These medicines include dutasteride/tamsulosin, calcium 500, vitamin D3, pantoprazole and nandrolone. Let us tell you that the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization tests samples of different medicines from the market every month, after which the quality test report is issued every month.
So many medicines had failed last month
In the August report, 53 medicines including paracetamol had failed the quality test. Let us tell you that due to lack of medicines as per standard quality, many people use bad medicines. Dr. Swati Maheshwari says that strict action should be taken against the companies manufacturing such medicines. In fact, continuously consuming poor quality medicines has adverse effects on health. This may increase the problems of the patients.
